Green Bumkin Kitchen Wetbag Review




Have you ever heard of a Kitchen Wetbag? 
I am just enjoying this fun and practical new addition in my kitchen!  A Kitchen Wetbag is a great way to keep any towels, dishcloths, and sponges--even if wet and gross.  The PUL layer keeps all the moisture in.  It has a zipper type closure to keep all stinks and smells inside the bag.  And the Outer Fabric adds a color splash to your kitchen as well as a bit of fun!  With two straps this wetbag is able to easily find a place in the kitchen, your oven handle. This Kitchen Wet Bag is skillfully handmade from a Work at Home Mama, Amy who started her business the Green Bumkin.

The two straps feature enable my Kitchen bag to hang level from my oven handle.  I do not have to worry about finding a place to put it or have it hanging awkwardly.  It has its perfect place in the kitchen!

Something else that I am loving about this unique Kitchen bag is that I was able to create my own unique wetbag!  I had the freedom to choose the Outer Fabric, the color PUL inside, the Snaps, and the color zipper!  I absolutely love that I got to take part in deciding what color elements to add to my kitchen.  She has so many prints to choose from that I know you will have a hard time deciding upon only one!  Check out her Green Bumkin fan page on Facebook and in the photos section she has photos of all the fabric choices she has!  (As well as a facebook fan discount!)
The fabric she chooses as well as all the hardware like the snaps she puts on are quality parts.
My Green Bumkin Wetbag has a "heavy duty" feel to it, and the PUL has not failed to keep in the stench and moisture from the kitchen towels I put in there. I can really put a lot of towels in here which is great!


Practical and Everyday Usage.
A Kitchen WetBag is something that I am using everyday.  This is something that will be utilized frequently.  Unlike some other things I have bought for my kitchen--this is something that I know that nobody would regret making.  I can foresee that I will be using this for years to come--and it far more durable than a plastic container in which I was putting it in.

Today is another opportunity for a fresh start!
I am so much encouraged by your comments given in a previous post when I was down and out as a mom.
I did not feel very much like I could get up and out and about again, but I am getting going again! It is not just for me, but for everyone.  The day is new for every person.  I know there are days that I feel like I messed up too much or have fallen too far behind, BUT we all deserve a new fresh start at life.

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23



Yesterday I received a phone call from a friend--and I let it ring and ring.  Honestly I do not like letting people in my life and let people that I know personally know that I am struggling as a young mom.  I do not like letting friends and family know that I have troubles.  Yet, I publish it on the web.  Alas, I answered her call.  

We talked about
1.) Letting in the sunshine!
2.) Taking a walk with Baby!
3.) Getting together and getting some lunch sometime this week
4.) If I ever needed someone to talk to, she wants me to call her.
5.) Listen and Read the Word of God

Which some of these were similiar to what some of you suggested!  :)

Today is a new day in which I am just deciding to grab the day, and just take time to be a mom without losing sight of who I am.  I will enjoy my half hour taking a nice hot shower just me while baby is sleeping!  I will take time to taste my food while she is happily playing with her food.  I will count my blessings, and let the SUN actually come through into our house instead of closing the curtains.  I WILL Walk OUTSIDE!

Taking a few minutes to set your mind on things helps flush out the depression by the way!  Just got to keep our minds thinking right!  Life gets hard and difficult...I hope that this new day will be brighter for you.

Teddy Needs a Bath Review! :)

Ever search for "How to clean stuffed animals"?   The main answers I got were varied, but what came out as most frequently is the idea of putting it in a pillow case to wash.  As a mom I really think of the word,easy.  The idea of gathering an assortment of pillow cases and tying them close had just too many steps...I am a bit lazy!  Our pillowcases would not hold many stuffed animals anyways.  So the box of stuffed animals stayed put away.

I love this huge bag called "Teddy Needs a Bath" .  I can fit so many of Sophia's friends in it when they need to take a spin in the laundry and dry.  Here's a picture of some of her stuffed animals that are needing a bath greatly!


My Thoughts on Teddy Needs a Bath.
This bag was great as I can wash other like colored clothes in the laundry at the same time.  I thought it was a great way to wash her stuffed animals.  I personally had a lot of stuffed animals that were second hand used from friends and family members.  Though the toys were not in any bad condition, I just did not know how to safely wash and dry these toys!  If I washed them, I can picture some of the small teddy bear arms and parts getting stuck somewhere in the machinery in the tumble dry of the dryer.  So I ended up boxing them up until Teddy Needs a Bath came along to the rescue!

With this bag keeping all the stuffed animals together, I could know that I would not lose any of her toy friends due to getting stuck in the dryer somewhere or even lost as many socks get mysteriously lost when it hits the laundry.  You are sure not to mysteriously lose anything in the washer with this bag.

Convenient and easy to use.   With this Teddy Needs a Bath I found that it was convenient for us. It had its place in the laundry room, and it was easy to unzip and stuff with stuffed animals.  It was also big enough to put a lot of toys in!  Yay!  So the results????  Well, we put Sophia's friends in the bag, and voila....CLEAN!

The importance of washing your stuffed animals.  
It is very important to wash your stuffed animals.  I never really thought much about dust mites much.  I simply thought about the look of her toys visually you know?  I never related cleaning her stuffed animals to the concept of health.  Of course preloved toys I would clean!  But with a baby it is good to regularly clean toys :)  Especially toys that are already pre-loved--though on the outside it may look clean, you do not see mold, pollen, dust mites, etc.  Please clean!  Not regularly cleaning the toys your baby plays with can affect the health of your child.

I am currently looking for a solution for cleaning teething toys for the church nursery and at home! My Heart Cries Out and Thirsts

Being home alone with a baby is hard.

I cannot deny it, but I feel so alone.  I feel so empty inside, and life seems so hard right now.  Andy has been working 7 days a week for the last TWO months, and I have to admit that my life has been centered around him. Take him away from my every day life and not seeing him till 10pm or later is difficult.

I find myself not wanting to do dishes, cook, clean, dress up, or even go outside.  I would rather close the curtains and sleep the day away till he comes home.  Yucky huh?  It is a daily fight to count my blessings, and be the mom Sophia needs me to be.  I must not let the way I feel or the absence of someone in my life dictate Who I am in Christ, or meant to be.

Acts 17:28- In Him we live and move and have our being.
Job 12:10- In His hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.

So much easier said than done!  But I know every morning holds such fresh mercy and grace.  Though every day is a battle, I know that God sees me.  It is for HIS glory that I am a mom and take care of the home...meaning family.  I can always find some way to be discontented and unhappy with life, so I must change my mind and attitude.  I must replace my discontent and unhappy thoughts with the Truth and promises from His Word.

    
The mind as a woman is constantly going and going and going. 


 I know that if I think about how Andrew is always constantly gone away from home that I can easily spend the day moping in utter despair.  What kind of person would I be?  I must cleanse these thoughts.  I must or else I will become a bitter and stagnant inside.  God wants me to be dependent upon Him alone.  I must be satisfied with My King, my First Love.  Man will never fill the void that God was meant to fill up.  Remember, we were created to have fellowship with Him first!  Then secondly we were created to be helper of man.  Only God can satisfy us.


 King David wrote this while he was in the wilderness of Judah:


O God, you are my God;
      Earnestly I seek you: 

My soul thirsts for you:
 My flesh faints for you,
           As in a dry and weary land
where there is no water. 

So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
       beholding your power and glory. 

Because your steadfast love is better than life, 
      My lips will praise you.  

So I will bless you as long as I live;
          in your name I will lift up my hands.

My soul will be satisfied 
    as with fat and rich food, 
              and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, 

When I remember you upon my bed,

I know that this was my encouragement today.  My soul has been thirsting for that which does not fill me.  Not saying that my husband is horrible, but in truth a relationship with God is one that ultimately fills me and makes me feel completely whole.  Complete. Satisfied.  At Peace.  

Lastnight I just was realizing how my unrest was caused by me feeling so incomplete.  Disappointed that my husband did not fill this void in me, we got into a fight.  I know its silly now how does one ask a person to fill the void in my life and make me not feel so sad?  But what could Andrew do?  He cannot satisfy my deepest needs nor does he even understand everything in me!  I wanted to feel whole--how can he even fill this unearthly void that I cannot even describe yet I feel it?  People and things cannot fill this dark hole or even change how we feel.  This thought came in my mind, and I thought and prayed....what do I do, Lord? 

  Today I opened up a book I have been reading and have been neglecting for a while.  The chapter that I left off at was entitled:  The Lord is All I Need.  How fitting! The corresponding passage was Psalms 63.  I read it....and it became a prayer in my lips as I began reading it.  This is when my soul and all that was within me just found "the right tune" if you can understand my expression.  This was my answer!  This is an excerpt taken from her book:
He was satisfied not because he had escaped from the desert, but because of God's love and presence: "Your Lovingkindness is better than life" (verse 3).  He knew that nothing in his physical situation could meet his deep needs--his "heart thirsts" and "soul-thirsts" as Hudson Taylor described them. --31 Days of Drawing Near to God by Ruth Meyers
I hope this encourages and helps you guys out.  Writing it out and rehashing what I am learning and discovering helps me "meditate" on His Word and recall what God is speaking through His Word to me. 
My heart and my prayer tonight is that if anyone is struggling with depression or sadness or this aching empty feeling.....I pray that you find God, who fills all needs, there with you wherever you are at.



You make known to me the path of life;          
            in your presence is fullness of joy;
                      at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Oh yes...I wanted to include....being a mom can be wonderful :)  Life with a baby can be a JOY again.

Being a mom is so worth it!

Jesus is Coming Really Soon (The Bible Post)

A couple of months ago, I was just really down, and I came across  Christopher Esty's The Bible Post.
 I sometimes stay up at night just worrying or just kind of having hard time having peace at night!  Not a fun thing to have one's mind wander away.  Which is why one must meditate on the Word of God so that all you have in mind is that which is TRUTH and not lies or things that just bring static.  I guess in my mind I was troubled, and feared and worried, and the verses and this post from Chris just helped me a great deal.  Especially with the world events going on continually, it is good to know that Jesus is coming really soon!

I received a wonderful message this morning! My son told me that he had a nightmare last night; but then he went on to say that he heard a kind voice speaking to him, saying, “You will have good dreams in your heart forever. I am coming really soon; in the clouds of heaven.” Jesus spoke to my son! And just as He spoke words of assurance to my son, He speaks words of assurance to you too:
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know” (John 14:1-4).
Dear friends, so much trouble is stirring up in the world: there are wars and rumors of wars; nations rising against nations; famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places; false teachers and false prophets are leading many astray; and the love of many is growing cold as a result of lawlessness (see Matthew 24:6-12). But do not lose heart! Those who endure to the end will be saved (see v. 13).
“Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28). For “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Unbelievers may laugh us to scorn, saying that we believe in fairy tales. But soon they will meet their Maker. Oh how He loves you! Do you know how much He loves you? You were worth dying for. Jesus gave His life for you. He purchased you with His own blood. Soon, He will come in the clouds of heaven to claim you, to take you away from this world of pain and suffering. He will usher you into His kingdom, where you will find love, peace, comfort, and joy everlasting. But you must not give up. No matter how hard it gets; don’t lose hope. Endure to the end!
My heart goes out to you, dear friends. I love you all, and want to meet you in the clouds of heaven, that we may be together with Jesus, forever and ever, in God’s kingdom. We will sit at the table that the Lord has prepared for us; we will sing songs of praise to His glory, and see our precious Savior, face to face. Our Father in heaven will embrace us, as we stand together in one place—a family in Christ. Nothing will ever separate us again. The cords of God’s love will bind us together for all eternity.

Our day of traveling and Cooking! (Lumpia Recipe)


Yesterday was such an adventure!  We took the Bremerton Ferry down to Seattle to make some Lumpia and Sinigang with my classmate. Things are a bit harder traveling with a baby!  But it was quite fun and challenging.  To keep a little on entertained takes a lot of preparation.  My grandma came to visit us and we decided to walk take her down to say goodbye on the Amtrak Train Station in Seattle.  The Station is is just gorgeous!  I should have brought my camera, but...my back pack was just too heavy with baby supplies!  So I did not want to really pack it in my overstuffed backpack...so all pictures were pulled off of the internet...sorry.

So I mentioned that we went to seattle to cook right?  Well, a good friend of mine came to see us at the ferry dock and we made such awesome Filipino food!  This is what we did and mind you, you can always add a bit extra of what you like!

Lumpia Recipe
1 lb-- Ground Pork 
1/2 lb Shrimp (deshelled and minced small)
3 small/medium carrots (shredded thinly)
1/4 Cup Green Onion (minced and diced)
1/2 Cup Yellow Onion (minced and diced)
3 cloves of garlic (minced and diced)
2 Tbs of Soy Sauce
1 egg yolk (save white for sealing lumpia wrapper)
Pepper and Salt--Season to taste
1/4 Cup about Water Chestnuts (smallest can, diced and minced)
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. 
Now ready your Lumpia Wrappers and start heating up your cooking oil.
What you want to do now is start filling up those lumpia wrappers!  I put a thin line of mixture in the middle of the wrap from one edge of the wrapper to the other.    You can of course make it as thick as you want, but keep in mind that it will take longer to cook in the oil :)  
Now fold over the wrap in half to where the Meat mixture is in the middle.  Try to enclose the mixture to get any air pockets out--making it tightly bound between the wrap.
Next, roll it until you have about an inch left.  Wet this wrapper with the reserved egg whites.  The egg whites act as a glue keeping your wrapper closed! :)
After making a bunch of these, start frying until the meat is cooked and you have a golden crisp lumpia!

I think there are a lot of variations as well as eyeballing ingredients going on in our family so... keep in mind that you can add more meat or more veggies into the lumpia you make!  It is all about what will satisfy your cravings!  I would just kind of look at the meat mixture and see if you have enough onions and garlic to balance out and flavor the extra meat intake you put. ;)

BeloBe Baby Review




I am so excited to introduce you to Jacyln from BeloBe Baby!  Her business, BeloBe Baby, is something that she started from her home in the Big Island, Hawaii!  I hope everyone will visit her shop and say Aloha to her!

One of the things I first fell in love with was the Security Blankets that she made.  Jacyln sent us one to review!  The Oh-so Plush and Soft minky fabric makes such a a wonderful little tug a long blanket!  This one in particular is just a nice deep shade of turquoise! We are loving the color combination of this Blue Lagoon Security blanket with fun green polka dots! I know that this design has caught Sophie's eye because of the dots and the colorfulness of the blanket.  There are some great security blanket combinations here is some of them:  

 A great feature is that a soft stuffed animal is attached to it! There is a variety of animals you can choose from!  You might have a hard time choosing which animal for your blankie design.  You can pick out a blanket design and she can sew whatever animal you want to match up with it.

  In our case we have an adorable elephant.  This is such a neat feature because a child can clutch the stuffed animal, and keep his blankie near! :)  All in all it is a great idea and fun to have! I know that right now she uses it mostly as a chew toy....but I think this is something that will stay with us for a while.

What I really liked about this Bib from BeloBe Baby is that it has really good absorbency and texture to it.  I found that I've been preferring this Bib to my other bibs that I have.  In truth I like it because of its soft towel like texture.  A really sweet feature of BeloBe Bibs is the "Catch Pocket" design.  It defintely has saved many pants from falling food.

Hmm...I have a matching Burpie cloth to go with this Bib....but I think it is in the laundry from our last usage! :)  the Burpie is also made from 100% Cotton. Again, very absorbent and big enough for Sophie to burp up on.  I did get a little bit of a shrinkage though after the first wash.  We just got a new dryer...so I suspect that it was just a bit too high--so just letting you guys know!  I imagine if one line dries the Burpie--it will not shrink.  The Bib did not shrink only the Burpie cloth.  

  What you'll find is many tropical fabric designs that are truly reminiscent of Hawai'i!

Lastly, she so generously sent us a Stroller Liner to review!


I absolutely am liking the styling stroller we have now. Say goodbye to drab black and grey! One thing that I did enjoy with her Stroller Liner was the ability to have two designs. I had two to choose from just by flipping the liner over.  Included were some shoulder strap wraps.  Sophie liked them....but found it just a bit too much for her in a stroller.  We did enjoy using them with my Beco Baby Carrier though.  I was so happy at the versatility of these nifty shoulder strap wraps.  I used them with my Baby Carrier and it worked great as a sucking/drooling liner.  It also protected her from rubbing against the straps and kept the straps from being everywhere.

I love the difference it makes and how it adds just some extra ease to cleaning.  Instead of dealing with cleaning the actual stroller fabric, I can just toss this in the washing machine!  Plus it is made to accomodate most 5 point harness strollers.  I used it on my red sport stroller for the most part and it fits easily. I just got this stroller (pictured above) and it slipped in easy too.  Not hard at all to take off or put on.  This is one of the things that is important to me--can I transfer it easily? and with this Liner it is a pretty simple matter. 

I found that her workmanship in her sewing and creating are very skillful.  I am very happy with the quality in her items.

Moving and Our not so Little Baby

Wow, it seems that life has hit the fastforward button. We are finally moved into our new place, and now living out of boxes! I am both excited yet so overwhelmed at the task of sorting through boxes, and just rearranging furniture and all that comes with moving.  The only thing that is pretty much situated is our kitchen!

But last night, I was just taken back and reminded to really treasure these times as a family. Good bye to stress and feeling overwhelmed...life will happen and its OK to have a mess of a house. I get frustrated easily, and you know what? I don't need to be! We will get things organized and unpacked in due time. What matters most is making sure I am there for my family.

I can unpack and have a wonderful time doing it!  
I can stop what I am doing and play with Sophie.  
I can take time to cook meals!  
I can spend time in the morning just taking in the Word of God!

ShaToBu Review: The Work Out You Wear

My thoughts on the High Waist to knee:
I enjoyed using this ShaToBu Shapewear for basic everyday shaping needs especially for my postpartum body.  The ShaToBu’s High Waist gave me the support I needed in my belly and back areas.   This Shapewear achieved in slimming down my sides and belly rolls that are so troublesome!  I like the Waist Band.  It did keep the ShaToBu from rolling down, I did find however that there were some instances that it would roll down a bit.  It did not roll badly though, so no worries I will not be deterred from using the ShaToBu.  

  I also was surprised at the comfort I had wearing it.  I felt the shapewear but was happy that it did not feel uncomfortable on.  Not only was it comfortable, but it was very lightweight, so it fit comfortably underneath my clothing—even while wearing jeans and form fitting clothing.  I was concerned about the ShaToBu trapping the heat, and making me sweat.  Well, the results after wearing it for two weeks?  Nope!  It works great, the “Coolmax” cotton gusset definitely wicked away any moisture and helped keep things feeling comfortably dry.   The sizing was true—I followed their guidelines, and found that it worked great.
Also, The ShaToBu fit smoothly against me that it did not show through underneath my clothing.  It was smooth like a second skin.

During my walk around our neighborhood, I felt that wearing the ShaToBu kept me mindful of keeping my core tight and pushing myself “just one more block” knowing that I had a shapewear that was going to help me burn about 12% more calories!  Whenever I climbed the flight of stairs wearing my Shapewear, I was glad to feel that little bit of resistance. 

I found that I would challenge myself to do things like lunge around the house just because I had the mindset of "12% more calories are burning!!!" 

Ultimately, The ShaToBu Shapewear has been one of my favorite everyday Shapewear.
  It is more of a light to medium shapewear—its firm in all the right areas, but I can have the freedom I need to do excercises and regular routine stuff!  It is somewhat of a delicate fabric though.  I just had to make sure that I took extra care in putting it on so I would not tear or damage it.  Do not get me wrong it is a great shapewear and it is durable, but especially if you are just trying it out for the first time just be mindful of sharp objects like fingernails or sharp rings when slipping it on. (especially for the first time--a tight fabric can tear more easily than something you've worn over and over again!).  After wearing my ShaToBu for about 2-3 weeks I felt more comfortable about not tearing it in anyway and it slips on nicely.  :) 


I recommend the ShaToBu as an easy everyday work out for your body and IS EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE  It helped shape my legs and waist which are target areas I wanted shaped, as well as get “working out!”.  I have felt that I had lost a couple inches while using this product combined with great eating habits and getting outside for some excercise!  My jeans have felt a bit loose on me!  You will like their other styles too! J
