Mary Lambert was an artist I have never heard of until recently. Her songs are really raw and truly emotional. Lambert's style is one that seems to be a mix of Adele and a bit of Missy Higgins without the rock. I would easily play this in my car for long drives and as I read books. I can easily imagine a song such as "Wounded Animal" and "So Far Away" with its mellow tone and catchy words playing in a coffee shop. Heart on My Sleeve is easy listening for the most part. There are songs that have some words that are inappropriate for my four year old's ears, but apart from that, I think it's enjoyable. It reminded me of Missy Higgins' voice and style as I listened to Lambert's song "Monochromatic". I really love her soulfulness and transparency in her music. It is evident she has gone through a lot of trials and hardships and she does indeed bare her Heart on her sleeves.
It is really awesome listening to an artist who comes from Seattle, near where I live!
My favorite from her new music album is Monochromatic and Wounded Animal.
