My Review:
This cereal tasted great. We received one box, and it was gone within two to three days. I had packed 2 ziplock baggies for snacks as we were on the road traveling. We as a family loved it for breakfast. It was not only my toddler who wanted a bowl full of Cookies 'n' Creme....it was me too!
The texture of them is not as hard on the mouth as I had thought it would be. In the past I have had circular kids' cereal and hated that it rubbed the roof of my mouth rough and raw for some reason. This one has a nice softer texture to it. It was small enough for little toddler mouths as well.
The Taste and flavor was addicting. I could not get over the delicious taste of Cookies 'n' Creme! I kept eating them as a snack and my husband who is a bit hard to please when it comes to cereal joined in on munching them down as well. Quite an enjoyable cereal that pleased the tastebuds of all in our family.
Life is Easier:
Below is what we received in our package. I have to say that I really am enjoying the cereal dispenser as it beats having to reach into the cupboards with a step stool for our cereal every morning. And the bowls, spoons fit together as "to go" cereal bowls. There is a place to put the cereal and have milk stored safely in a separate compartment. In thinking about up coming camping trips, this will come handy when we want at least one bowl of cereal or need some snack containers.

In the past months I have always shied away from purchasing a box of Cheerios from Costco. They were always too big and tall to store in our cabinets, and too much for our little household to eat up in time!
Yet I remember caving in and purchasing Costco's Big Box of Cheerios. My daughter recently grew an affinity to Cheerios as a simple easy snack. I caved and bought ourselves a huge box at Costco. It was at a decent price, and thought it was a bargain! But because of the huge package, we could not eat down to the bottom. The cereal became stale and just not breakfast or snack worthy. I still have the remains of what's left in my cupboard! I hate waste, and buying cereal in bulk was just not worth it to me.
BUT Today, I am excited to talk about Cheerios NEW Packaging! Instead of one huge tall box, Cheerios are now packaged into two separate boxes. They are shorter in length, and a tiny bit wider. I am quite fond of the TWO BOX packaging as it really eliminates the waste in our household and reduces the possibility of our Cheerios getting stale. Watch the Video below to see the difference in the NEW packaging!
Here are some reasons as to why I think this is such a Brilliant Idea from General Mills and beneficial to our family!
The two box Packaging makes the cereal last longer and fresh.
The package is already divided into what we can use now, and what we can store up for later. It makes it easier for me to put away groceries!
The box itself is shorter and can easily fit in our regular size cabinets. Whereas before, I found it frustrating trying to figure out a way to store ONE tall big box in my cabinet.
Available at Costco, Sam's Club, and BJ's nationwide.
We can buy Cheerios in bulk without wasting or having the cereal become stale!
If a more convenient design isn't enough, the iconic yellow box has gone green, environmentally that is! The new 2 box Cheerios® 40.7oz package is better for the environment than the previous 37oz item as it uses:
Less air – the new 2 compact boxes combined fit more cereal than the previous package!
Less material – packaging material has been reduced by over 200,000 lbs of paperboard, and saves 1,000 trees per year!
Fewer trucks –more boxes fit on each truck, which takes 130 trucks off the road each year and reduces CO2 emissions!
Giveaway:One winner will be chosen to win the New 2 Box Packing of Cheerios! Giveaway ends June 13, 2012, 12:01am EST. Please enter by filling out the Rafflecopter form below. Giveaway open to US and CAN. Winner must respond to notification email to claim prize within 48 hours.
Now I have found that this diaper gets nice and “thicker” it
seems after a number of washes. Our
washing machine is shared between our upstairs neighbors so it took quite some
time to get this diaper washed! But
after a good couple of washings and using it for about a month now, I have to
say that it’s a nifty daytime diaper. My toddler
is about 23lbs now and it fits her nicely.
This Mother Ease One-Sized Fitted is designed to fit a child 8lbs-35lbs.
Absorbency:Now
at first I snapped on this diaper without an insert. She got away from me and managed to run and
pee at the same time. A toddler without
an insert in this diaper or a diaper cover—not a good idea. After washing and drying the diaper, I added a soaker inside this Mother-ease diaper, and gave it another try! I managed to slip on a diaper cover on her wiggly body, and voila! It made for a nice daytime diaper for the afternoon. I found that it was a good diaper for both night time and daytime use. In our stash it is used mainly as a day time diaper because it is just so easy to use and quickly put on her.
Mother-Ease One Size
Fitted Diapers have a place for an optional insert. For a light weight wetter and younger babies,
an insert might not be needed, as the cotton terry fabric seemed to absorb
nicely. I have only tried this diaper on
my 18 month old, 23lb toddler. For a
toddler or heavy wetter Mother-ease recommend an optional snap-in insert as
shown in their diagram on folding diapers for various sizes. I highly recommend a thirsty insert. She peed right through the diaper without the
insert. When I grab this diaper it is
for the daytime uses. I have used this
diaper with a snap in insert and diaper cover for her 2 ½ hour.
Fabric: I did like how the diaper had Cotton Terry
touching my baby’s bottom. If you are
looking for a diaper that is soft and will not maintain its softness I highly
would tell you that this one may be the diaper you are looking for! The Cotton Terry has a nice feel to it—great for
little bottoms. I love that the cotton
terry texture helps things fall off the diaper when plopping solids into the
toilet. It seems to absorb and then the
terry texture keeps the solids at the top instead of getting smushed into the
fiber. Another fabric in this diaper, the
polyester fabric is in the core to help “stabilize, prevent shrinkage, and add
durability”. I know that some may worry
about polyester fabrics, but do not fear, the Cotton Terry is against the skin
not the polyester.
It also has a nice stretch to it. I like that I am not fighting a stiff fabric.
Newborn Fit:I kind of like using my daughter’s baby doll
for illustration on how fit is on a baby.
As you can see it will work for a tiny one. It is loose on the bottom side due to the
baby not having much of a bum. It seems
kind of bulky in my opinion even for an 8lb baby, but is doable. I find that babies will rather grow into
diapers sooner than one will know it though so do not despair if you purchase a
diaper—your little one will grow into it for sure!
Though it will be somewhat bulky on a newborn, I feel that
it could be a stay at home diaper till baby grows into it more. The Cotton Terry cloth will be great for
newborns’ skin I think, as it was super soft even after a month’s worth of
washing. The diaper itself is not stiff,
but just supple and pliable to form and fit around umbilical areas. I found it relatively easy to fold down the
diaper to avoid umbilical cord as well.
Mind you, it was a baby doll I tried it on!
Final Thoughts: I really liked the trimness of this diaper. I liked that I could slip on a pair of her shorts or pants over top the diaper and diaper cover. Another positive about this Mother-ease diaper is the fabric--The Cotton Terry's softness was a major plus in my book. This is my first cotton terry type of diaper, and I have to say we LOVE it!
For approximately $11-$13 you can get a decent
One-Sized Fitted Mother-ease diaper. I
think that the price for the cloth diaper is reasonable especially since it
will accommodate your baby till potty training time!

This is my first time trying out Gorton’s Seafood—so what our family tried out were their Original Batter Tenders. Great big fish sticks they are in my opinion! This served us well especially on a day after church. I was not too keen of what to cook quick and fast that day, but I remembered we had Gorton’s Seafood in our freezer picked up a couple of days before.
Some things that I first noticed while shopping was the
"Gorton's Goodness" 100% Real Fish, No Fillers
NO MSG
Natural Omega-3
Our Sunday Meal!
Quick as you can say “Fish and Chips! Fish and Chips! Fish and Chips!” I heated up the oven and within about 15-20 minutes later we were sitting down to some Fish and Chips! I absolutely loved it when my husband chipped in by making some “homemade” tartar sauce. This was a fun easy meal to make with the family, and the batter of the fish had a nice crunch to it. I was surprised at the crunchiness and superb taste of the Fish because in the past other fish do not have that great crunch as Gorton's does. So our compliments and recommendation to Gorton’s Original Batter!
Good Meaty Texture:
The texture of Gorton’s Original Fish Batter was quite nice. One can easily tell that it was real fish! What is also great is that there are no fillers. When you pulled it apart, one can see the meat “flake” off just as a real fish would do if one pulled it apart. I absolutely love that after pulling and cooling our Gorton’s Fish out of the oven that there was a definite crunch that I go to a restaurant for. I get great results without the use of a deep fat fryer!
Recipes and Food ideas for everyone, Gluten Free too!
We have yet to try out their Grilled Salmon, just bought some at the store, and am quite excited to try it for dinner or lunch with my husband! I will update without experience of Grilled Salmon. The cost to serve two people is not bad either it is under $6 for Gorton’s Gilled Salmon in our grocery store! I appreciate the decent reasonable pricing as well as that they provide a great plethora of recipes and ideas for using their products. Not to mention for anyone who has to worry about Gluten--Gorton's Seafood offers a selection of Gluten Free products.
I will come back shopping for their other products such as Popcorn Shrimp, Grilled Tilapia, and Beer Battered Fish! Not to mention browsing their Recipe Collection gave me some easy meal ideas for the future. Check out their website for a full list of Gorton's products!
Now they have chosen to sponsor a Giveaway on my blog too! THREE WINNERS will be chosen to win TWO "FREE" Gorton's Product from my blog! They will be Free Coupons to any of their products! I love these prizes....Giveaway is open to US residents only.

Finally a Fitness Program Made for Someone like Me:
What I love about
Dutin Maher'sFit Momsfor Life program is that it is very
realistic for me as a Real Mom. One of those reasons is that he strives
to make exercise short and sweet--after all Moms are Busy! But in that
time we do exercise he encourages us to challenge ourselves to work out
intensely and to push ourselves. Secondly, I really appreciate that he
appeals to my mindset by educating me on the "WHYs" of Nutrition,
Exercise, etc. One of my favorite parts he talks about is exercise.
His program includes Cardio, Strength Training, and Core Training, and
Flexibility Fitness Training. As a young mom, I have no time to really do
the research on what type of exercises to do or Fitness Training to include in
my work outs--and I am very grateful that Maher goes into details of the
importance of each. For example, Strength training is ideal for the woman
because it not only tones our body but it increases bone density. I had
not known that! And time and time again I hear about women dealing with
bone density loss. So I am very grateful for the invaluable knowledge and
facts inundated throughout this book.
Dustin hits a lot of major points that can empower and motivate
you to keep on going with one’s weight loss journey. One of these aspects he talked about in his
book was the topic of Mindsets and setting reasonable goals. I quite enjoyed setting goals and while talking with my husband over my weight loss goals we uncovered how I had been trying all my life to "please" others. My mindset was all about exercising and getting fit in order to "please" others. In reality I need to exercise for my own self--for my own bodily health and fitness sake. But what has been ingrained in my mind was that of a negative "I've got to look good for others or they always think this way about me...I want to change their thoughts about how they view me." These are just a few unhealthy negative thoughts and mindsets that ran through my mind. As a person we have got to do something for ourselves, and not worry about what others might think! We got to do something because we choose to do it. It is not selfish to think this way either!
Dustin hits other key points that are important for us as moms to become a"Fit Mom for Life" such as having a good positive environment, having daily affirmations and saying them aloud, as well as the importance of knowing what you are eating (keeping a food log to track your nutritional intake!).
Thirdly, I really appreciate his approach to fitness. It is intense but not obsessively so! As a mom I get burnt out by watching all these crazy exercise enthusiast obsessive who seem to think about fitness 24/7! Dustin is a really down to earth kind of guy who makes himself available via Facebook and though he is a fitness coach, he is a practical fitness enthusiast! He's very personable and though he is busy and might not respond right away--he's there to encourage and to help. I shot him a message via Facebook and got a response back!
Real Moms, Real Stories, Real Pictures!
Incorporated in the book are success stories of moms. They are shown throughout the book, and you can read about their story and fitness journey. I love that it is not hyped up, but simply real. I found these success stories quite encouraging me and further helped me to continue on my weight loss journey because I felt like "I can be a success story one day!" They were ordinary women like me who accomplished being a fit mom!
I joined up with other Mommy Bloggers in February of this year and

Fit Moms for Life
Vegetables are one of our biggest obstacles right now. Our daughter is beginning to become quite picky especially when it comes to textures and certain foods. But thanks to Copy-Kids, She rather liked chomping on the vegetables and copying the kids as they ate their veggies! At first I observed her just sitting in her high chair watching the other kids eat, studying them and soaking in the situation. When I set a bowl of vegetables in front of her, she grabbed the red bell pepper and started copying the children eating red bell peppers!
I believe that Copy-Kids DVD really aided us in jumping this hurdle when it comes to vegetables and fruits. She is starting to gravitate towards mimicking other children right now, and loves to follow what they do and say! Copy-Kids DVD has hit the mark by applying this towards helping families get their kids to eating healthier. The concept of "copy" is really quite simple but effective. The concept paired with healthy eating habits and kids--ingenius!
Another thing I really liked that there was a positive atittude towards vegetables and fruits--which was rather refreshing! Kids eating and enjoying their vegetables was just so amazing and thrilling to see and I know it got my daughter and I excited about eating vegetables and fruits again!
After watching Copy-Kids, I was a bit pricked in my heart. I have begun to rethink what I prepare for myself and my family. I am aware now more than ever that I am an example to my daughter and family. I still cringe at the thought of eating my brocolli, peas, and peppers! I need a better attitude towards my vegetables. After watching the Copy-Kids eat their veggies I am going to have to rethink my own eating habits. I need to walk the walk and talk the talk and in matters of eating---I need to not only eat my veggies more visibly in front of my daughter but eat them with enthusiasm and enjoyment like Copy-Kids.
Interested in seeing a little clip of their Copy-Kids? You can view the sizzle reel here: http://copy-kids.com/ I think that this product is a very positive approach for encouraging kids towards eating healthier foods such as Vegetables and Fruits. You can also visit them on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/CopyKids.

My husband wins. It has always been a battle getting him to dress up nicely. He will always pick up his Holey Armpit Shirtover any of the nicely hung shirts that are Whole. He dismissed the thought of wearing dressy shirts a long time ago. I have asked him why. His answer is simply that he prefers shirts that are broken in and have that softness. But his idea of broken into is that his shirt is so "soft" that its falling apart at the seams!
My dear husband is all about....COMFORT.
He does have STYLE though....just not my style. When we were going out on a date night I tried to persuade him to wear something that would please me--with a sly twinkle in his eye he mischievously grinned at me and wore a funny shirt that thankfully was cleaned andbore no holes. It seems that he has a handful of shirts that say something funny or have a picture of something interesting on it--and he cycles through them on a weekly basis!
Review of Headline Shirt--Vader Piñata
So when I was given the opportunity to head over to Headline Shirts, I knew that this was right up my husband's alley! Intriguing, Interesting, and Intelligently Funny shirts can be found when perusing their selection. They carry some really unique shirts that I have never seen before. I discovered that they draw up ideas and brainstorm their own shirts! Which is cool because one can see a mixture of American History, Current Events, Trends, and San Francisco humor instilled in the shirts. Their VintageBlend shirts are hand sewn and made in San Francisco and are composed of a 60/40 Soft Cotton-polyester blend.
We ordered a size Large. Ordering from their website was smooth, straightforward and uncomplicated. Orders ship within 24 hours, and it nice to receive an email telling me that my order shipped along with a tracking number. March 23 I ordered my shirt and on March 26 my shirt arrived! Headline Shirts Service was great.
The new shirt fit him well and to his delight it was Comfy, fit his Style (funny-hilarious-attention getting-Star Wars), and above all Soft. His Vader Pinata shirt did not have a starchy stiff feel that most new shirts have. Rather this Headline Shirt was supple and a relaxed fit on him. He wore it to today to give his Supervisor at work (also a Star Wars Fan) a bit of a laugh!
Why we love it: Who does not like the idea of Darth Vader attacking a Pinata with a Light Saber? The graphics on the shirt is bright, and easily seen from afar. First people may be drawn to see the Pinata and then smile as their eyes move towards the sight of Darth Vader! It strikes a smile in most people who catch a glimpse at my husband's shirt. The shirt itself washes nicely too. We washed it and experienced no color fading or bleeding. It hasn't shrunk to kids size after drying in the dryer. The softness, quality, and overall fit of the shirt gets two thumbs up from us!
Why all the Baboons? Well did you know that the monkey (baboon) runs
the show? Just kidding, Robert Baboon is the chief man behind the
business and hence the baboons in the logo. There are no words to describe about how Headline Shirts came
to be and how they operate. It is said a picture is worth a thousand words, and they have pictures you
need to see! Read more about Headline Shirts-- you want to check it out!About Headline Shirts

Our Experience with Diaper Rash:
As much as we all hate to admit it, cloth diaper-ers do have outbreaks of some nasty rashes! For the most part, they occur because of the build up in diapers over time. For our first year we hardly had a build up and rashes were a rarity. Mainly because we were trying out some really neat detergents at the time, and we had our own washer and dryer to use. Then we moved and we shared washer and dryer with another family. Her diapers were not washed frequently and build up started to happen.
Sometime after I said, "We don't have any rashes when using our cloth diapers," to a prospective family who were thinking cloth, the inevitable happened. She broke out with one of the worst rashes I have ever seen! Little by little build up in the diapers occurred and a rash resulted.
Unsure about what salves and cloth diaper rash creams were safe for our cloth diapers, I switched to disposables for a bit. It helped for a while. The rash was persistent. It also started getting a bit raw little by litt.e I was worried that it was more than a rash. I scoured the internet looking for ways to figure out if it was something more than a bad rash. My husband in the meantime was bringing home different ointments and diaper rash creams. We had switched to disposables fully because of fear of further ruining our cloth diapers. I was also trying to figure out what was going on with our cloth diapers--stripping it and thoroughly rinsing them at the time. It was through the internet I found Earth Mama Angel Baby Organics. I had ordered Angel Baby Bottom once she started getting a rash, and was just waiting for it to come in. Once it arrived For the next couple of days I applied Angel Baby Bottom Balm onto her I witnessed the rash calming down, and her raw skin healed little by little. It was such a relief for all of us!
Review of the Angel Baby Bottom Balm:
Diaper rashes is not a fun matter, and it is very nice to have a salve such as Angel Baby Bottom Balm that works to also prevent diaper rashes. All you really need is a light coat of the salve on your child's bum. 2oz has lasted us for about 2 months now? That is with my daughter sticking her fingers in it and spreading a whole bunch of the salve all over her tummy and legs--thinking it was "lotion" as well as using it at least three times weekly. There are weeks in which I remember to use it and weeks that I don't.
Screw Top Lid. The 2 oz container is easy to pack with a screw top lid. No worries of the container popping open in my bag and making a mess. I almost prefer this type of closure as I have a toddler who can easily open containers. The Screw Top Lids is something she has yet to figure out.
I love a product that works. This sure comes close to being a miracle! I can tell with every diaper change if she has a bad rash, that the Balm is helping and healing. Little by little the redness disappears, and I can see visual improvement. For the little bit I do use on her, I am amazed at how mighty and powerful this Balm is.
Soothing. In short our daughter because of this bad diaper rash had trouble sleeping at night. She was irritable and no pain killer or anything helped. When we started using Angel Baby Bottom Balm on her, I noticed her irritable levels calmed down and she was able to sleep better through the night. She also was better at us changing her diapers. I noticed that when she had the bad rash she did not want me to change her diaper--I know because she goes into a kicking episode. As the Balm was rubbed onto her skin she seemed to calm down and become more cooperative with me. Two thumbs up for its soothing nature!
Smell. The aroma of the Balm is soothing in and of itself. It is not "scented" by any means, but the scent it gives off is a result of all that goes into the balm. The blend of organic herbs and natural oils create a scent that is both earthy and herbal. I find it pleasant and almost relaxing of a scent.
Cloth Diaper Safe: Something that I liked about it was that it was that it was cloth diaper safe. I have been using this salve for about 2 months now, and we have not had a problem with our diapers showing signs of becoming less absorbent. It is also composed of all natural ingredients that works to soothe and heal not only diaper rashes but also itchy and problematic skin and soothes thrush!
For more than just Bottoms: For me, I do not have diaper rashes, but I do use this Balm periodically for my itchy skin (psoriasis). I wanted to try it out one day, and found the Angel Baby Bottom Balm quite soothing. It gave me a cooling sensation and the urge to scratch soon dissipated. I am quite fond of using the Balm on myself as well as on my daughter. I can only imagine how good this Balm must feel on her rashy red bottom. I use this product quite frequently as a first aid item. I simply apply a thin coat onto her scratches, daddy's boo boos, and my minor scrapes. It's multipurpose use is well adapted into our household.
The Balm itself is this light yellow color. Get a little bit of the balm on your fingers and you notice it begins to melt away almost immediately from your body heat! When I rub it onto my daughter I get a thin coat of it on her rashes and scrapes. It does tend to be a little "shiny" at first, but as one rubs it in it gets absorbed into the skin and becomes a dull shine. You feel it, but it is not a nasty oily feeling at all. My skin feels moisturized after rubbing the Balm into my hands! For my daughter I usually use what is pictured in the picture down below. A little bit goes along way.

Item up for Review: Peace Love & Diapers Large Fitted:
Components of the Peace Love & Diapers Fitted:
Microfiber great luxurious feeling fabric next to her skin:
This diaper has an inner core layer of bamboo hemp fleece which works quite well for us. She has not had any leaks in this diaper, and I feel that its micro fleece inner fabric really helps keep our rashes down to a minimum. For night time I find that hemp is a great material, but when paired with a micro fleece it helps keep her skin dry through the night. The Last two nights we were down to our cloth diaper prefolds, and her skin broke in an ammonia burn (rash) because the moisture sat right next to her skin. Not fun of a rash either poor thing! So once we got our diaper laundry we were grateful for having this diaper again. The microfleece keeps her bottom less wet and less likely to get an ammonia burn from sleeping in her diaper.
Soaker "Insert" Region:The insert is sewn into the diaper in the soaker region. It is stitched into the diaper making it easier and intact! No loose insert to find in the wash, and really nice that it is a big region which enables it to truly become a soaker region. The soaker region is composed of the Organic Bamboo Velour fabric and two MORE layers of hemp fleece. We have not had any problems with any leakages. While changing her one day out of her Peace Love & Diaper, the thought crossed my mind athat the outer fabric only felt damp, but the entire diaper felt very "full"! So this diaper can truly take any heavy wetter in my opinion.
The Outer Layer:The outer layer of this Peace, Love & Diaper is composed of a nice stretchy bamboo hemp material. Not only am I finding it a nice absorbent layer, but also one that seems to help retain moisture inside the diaper. The outer layers of this particular Peace, Love & Diapers is a natural cream color. Amanda does do custom orders with a variety of very attractive fabrics that one can choose for the outer layer of fabric. Be sure to check out her selection of fabrics.
Snaps:This is a turned and top stitched diaper with two layers of high quality resin snaps. The bottom row of snaps can adjust for her abdomen and the top row of snaps can give a more snug fit around her waist and top tummy area. The stretchy fabrics allow for some give and makes it easier to find the right snap! ( Do you see that little part at the top of the diaper? That is what makes this diaper "turned and top stitched!)
Conclusion:My favorite things about this diaper are the fantastic combination of quality fabrics incorporated into this diaper as well as a most amazing fit! Her fitteds are made with organic hemp/fleece as the outer absorbent
layer, organic bamboo velour as an inner soaker fabric, 2 more layers of
thirsty hemp/fleece inner, and then a microfleece layer against baby's
skin to wick away moisture. My husband and I both agreed that it was nice having something that kept her bottom drier without having to resort to a disposable. Not to mention how it helps us when we do have an ammonia rash burn! When she started having these rashes, it was nice having this diaper around to rely on for not only its hemp’s thirstiness, but also its wicking away “stay dry” properties.
I can definitely tell that she makes each and every diaper with Peace and LOVE! :) Amanda is a wonderful Work at Home Mom that I think you'd find easy to work with and getting a diaper that fits your needs. Not to mention the quality and handmade care infused into each and every diaper she makes! :)

Item Reviewing: Nifty Nappy Fitted Diaper in Elephants print from Red Barn Cloth Diapers. (Part 1: Components of the Diaper)
Fitted diapers are so adorable! Let me know if you have heard that quite too often!
A comment an older friend who cloth diapered her kids a long time ago said, "What good is the print if we can't see it!" I simply smiled and told her that I let my daughter run a bit without a cover. For me, it is so important that I as the main cloth diaper changer get some enjoyment too! One of my "cloth therapies" is having a few diapers that really are a cheerful site!
Jeni, owner of Red Barn Cloth Diapers sews up Nifty Nappy Diapers under a Cottage License. Although this is my first Nifty Nappy, I feel that the craftsmanship is exceptional. The price of Nifty Nappy is something one has to save up for if building a huge stash of them, but these are agreeably well worth it. I showed it to one of my friends who has been (and is still currently) sewing for over 35 years and you know what she said?
"Now that is how the serger's thread is supposed to look like. That is good quality and perfect--see how the threads 'meet on the edge?'" She looked the diaper over, and nodded her approval.
Components of the Red Barn Nifty Nappy:
Elasticity: The back of the diaper is fixed with an elastic. I love elastic as it helps to keep leakages at a minimum. The elastic on the back of this diaper is encased into the diaper. Child wearing the diaper does not get any redness because the elastic is encased. That goes with the leg elastic parts as well. One the left is the back elastic and on the right is a picture of the leg elastic gussets! Which I feel fits my daughter comfortably--allowing some stretch yet keeps close to her skin to absorb wetness.
Fabrics: The outermost fabric is a cotton knit fabric (elephants). The innermost layer touching your baby's sensitive skin is microfleece fabric. This truly is a soft fabric, but more importantly it help wick away moisture from your baby's skin. I am growing pretty partial to it because it helps keep her drier without the moisture sitting right on her skin. The fabric in between these two layers is a layer of organic hemp fleece. I personally love this fabric! For one thing, hemp is not only antibacterial but very thirsty! It has become one of the most popular of fabrics because it makes for one very absorbent cloth diaper. In my experience with hemp fabrics, I can attest that they can truly soak up lots of water.
The Wings: Length of Wings is nice and long. I love that I do not have to wrestle with my daughter. It really helps aid in fitting the diaper quickly and easily. Not to mention allows more snaps to be on the diaper.
The Snaps. These are made out of high quality resin snaps. I am pretty sure they will not break down on you! These snaps ensure that my
daughter can get the right fit. With seven snaps on the wing--4 allows
for inner adjustment and 3 for top adjustments. The snap placement is
just right, and I have not have been having problems with finding an
adjustment. As you can see, this Nifty Nappy Fitted has snaps
alternating every other snap--meaning that I can adjust the fit from the
inside and outside. The outer snaps allows for the two wings to cross on top of each other as well as help fit the diaper onto baby well.
Insert: The fabrics that compose the lay-in insert is Organic Hemp Fleece and Organic Bamboo Velour. Again you have the hemp material that will soak up great and the velour serves as a soft absorbent fabric against your child's skin. I could not believe how soft to the touch the Organic Bamboo Velour was! It is a "yummy" fabric and something that to me is a luxury to have in a cloth diaper.
Over all I really love my Nifty Nappy from Red Barn Cloth Diapers!
It is so squishy and easy to find a good fit. When changing her into this Nifty Nappy Fitted diaper, it is quick to snap on. I am not fighting with the wings to find a snap that will work. The absorbency of the diaper is perfect for car rides, doctor visits, and night time uses. The micro-fleece layer does a good job at keeping her feeling dry and skin is not soaking in her pee. I find that My daughter does not show any signs of discomfort in wearing it. Rather she almost does not notice when she is wet in them--usually she tells me if she has wet her diaper and lately while using this diaper she has not told me. So maybe it is working too well at wicking!
My only small complaint has to do with the insert. I wish that the insert would be a bit bigger in size Although it is working good, what would make it great is if it was a little longer lengthwise. I find that it scrunches at the front of the diaper, if maybe it were a little longer it would not scrunch a whole lot and add even more absorbency to the front of the diaper. After prepping the diaper insert, I noticed that it had shrunk a bit and not quite as even. The top layer seemed bigger than the bottom layer and kind of lumps at the sides a bit. Though it does not affect its performance, I thought it good to mention it. I used hot water and did dry the insert through the dryer on a low-medium heat. So just give sunning or air drying your insert a shot and maybe make sure your hot water is not too hot! :)
I was a bit skeptical at this diaper being a One Size diaper--meaning it fits from newborn to potty training age (about 35lbs). But my Part 2 will be about using this Nifty Nappy diaper on a newborn!
