Diaper Rash and Cloth Diapers: Angel Baby Bottom Balm Review & Giveaway

 Our Experience with Diaper Rash:
As much as we all hate to admit it, cloth diaper-ers do have outbreaks of some nasty rashes!  For the most part, they occur because of the build up in diapers over time.  For our first year we hardly had a build up and rashes were a rarity.  Mainly because we were trying out some really neat detergents at the time, and we had our own washer and dryer to use.  Then we moved and we shared washer and dryer with another family.  Her diapers were not washed frequently and build up started to happen.

Sometime after I said, "We don't have any rashes when using our cloth diapers," to a prospective family who were thinking cloth, the inevitable happened.  She broke out with one of the worst rashes I have ever seen!  Little by little build up in the diapers occurred and a rash resulted.

Unsure about what salves and cloth diaper rash creams were safe for our cloth diapers, I switched to disposables for a bit.  It helped for a while.  The rash was persistent.  It also started getting a bit raw little by litt.e  I was worried that it was more than a rash.  I scoured the internet looking for ways to figure out if it was something more than a bad rash.  My husband in the meantime was bringing home different ointments and diaper rash creams.  We had switched to disposables fully because of fear of further ruining our cloth diapers.  I was also trying to figure out what was going on with our cloth diapers--stripping it and thoroughly rinsing them at the time.  It was through the internet I found Earth Mama Angel Baby Organics I had ordered Angel Baby Bottom once she started getting a rash,  and was just waiting for it to come in. Once it arrived For the next couple of days I applied Angel Baby Bottom Balm onto her  I witnessed the rash calming down, and her raw skin healed little by little.  It was such a relief for all of us!

Review of the Angel Baby Bottom Balm:
Diaper rashes is not a fun matter, and it is very nice to have a salve such as Angel Baby Bottom Balm that works to also prevent diaper rashes.  All you really need is a light coat of the salve on your child's bum.  2oz has lasted us for about 2 months now?  That is with my daughter sticking her fingers in it and spreading a whole bunch of the salve all over her tummy and legs--thinking it was "lotion" as well as using it at least three times weekly.  There are weeks in which I remember to use it and weeks that I don't.
  •  Screw Top Lid.  The 2 oz container is easy to pack with a screw top lid.  No worries of the container popping open in my bag and making a mess.  I almost prefer this type of closure as I have a toddler who can easily open containers.  The Screw Top Lids is something she has yet to figure out.
  • I love a product that works.  This sure comes close to being a miracle!  I can tell with every diaper change if she has a bad rash, that the Balm is helping and healing.  Little by little the redness disappears, and I can see visual improvement.  For the little bit I do use on her, I am amazed at how mighty and powerful this Balm is.
  • Soothing.  In short our daughter because of this bad diaper rash had trouble sleeping at night.  She was irritable and no pain killer or anything helped.  When we started using Angel Baby Bottom Balm on her, I noticed her irritable levels calmed down and she was able to sleep better through the night.  She also was better at us changing her diapers.  I noticed that when she had the bad rash she did not want me to change her diaper--I know because she goes into a kicking episode.  As the Balm was rubbed onto her skin she seemed to calm down and become more cooperative with me.  Two thumbs up for its soothing nature!
  • Smell.  The aroma of the Balm is soothing in and of itself.  It is not "scented" by any means, but the scent it gives off is a result of all that goes into the balm.  The blend of organic herbs and natural oils create a scent that is both earthy and herbal.  I find it pleasant and almost relaxing of a scent.
  • Cloth Diaper Safe:  Something that I liked about it was that it was that it was cloth diaper safe.  I have been using this salve for about 2 months now, and we have not had a problem with our diapers showing signs of becoming less absorbent.  It is also composed of all natural ingredients that works to soothe and heal not only diaper rashes but also itchy and problematic skin and soothes thrush!
  • For more than just Bottoms:  For me, I do not have diaper rashes, but I do use this Balm periodically for my itchy skin (psoriasis).  I wanted to try it out one day, and found the Angel Baby Bottom Balm quite soothing.  It gave me a cooling sensation and the urge to scratch soon dissipated.  I am quite fond of using the Balm on myself as well as on my daughter.  I can only imagine how good this Balm must feel on her rashy red bottom.  I use this product quite frequently as a first aid item.  I simply apply a thin coat onto her scratches, daddy's boo boos, and my minor scrapes.  It's multipurpose use is well adapted into our household.
  • The Balm itself is this light yellow color.  Get a little bit of the balm on your fingers and you notice it begins to melt away almost immediately from your body heat!  When I rub it onto my daughter I get a thin coat of it on her rashes and scrapes.  It does tend to be a little "shiny" at first, but as one rubs it in it gets absorbed into the skin and becomes a dull shine.  You feel it, but it is not a nasty oily feeling at all.  My skin feels moisturized after rubbing the Balm into my hands!  For my daughter I usually use what is pictured in the picture down below.  A little bit goes along way.

Nifty Nappy: Folding a Fitted to fit a Newborn

As you can see it seems that this does not look like this diaper will work on this "Newborn".  But it is possible to achieve a nice fit on a tiny one!

Step 1: Lay insert in diaper. Infant on top.

STEP 2: Fold down diaper or "tuck" it under.  Fold it down to where it is at the belly button of  your infant.  If there is an umbilical cord then you can adjust the diaper so that diaper is below cord.

Step 3:  Just simply start snapping the snaps together.  What I did to get the right sizing is just pull the front wings of the diaper to the sides of the baby.  Then with the LONG (red) wings find the corresponding snaps.

I have not yet had an infant or baby around to try this Nifty Nappy on!  But I had one of those baby dolls that you find in a birthing class to try this Nifty Nappy on.  Overall I really liked how it fit well on this infant doll!  I was surprised that this diaper could very well fit an infant as well as my daughter at 18 months.

The diaper pictured in this post is a Red Barn Nifty Nappy Fitted Diaper, One Size.

Eebee's Adventures DVDs {Review & Giveaway}

I cannot tell you about how Eebee's Adventures without telling  you a little bit about life before watching Eebee's Adventures!

My Dilemma:How do I Interact with my child?
The pressure of learning ABCs and 123s got me trying to cram it down her 10 month old brain.  We bought building blocks for her to play with.  Here I was as a first time mom sitting down on the floor trying to show her the alphabet and the numbers on the blocks.  I was trying to “play” with her and show her these things!  My heart was thinking:
I do not want her to be the only one who does not know the alphabet or know her numbers!  So we best start early!
After ten minutes of failing, I succumbed to having her throw around the blocks.  I even stacked up the blocks to show her how to “build”.  My focus was on trying to have her “Build” and was not even catching on to the fact that she was experiencing a different level of Playing and Learning that I did not even notice or understand.

By far the only time I really had her attention was when I was reading a certain book that contained things to touch, and for me—animals to breath life into.  What I mean is she was able to touch and feel different textures and I was able to “Moo” and “Quack” and “Pock Pock Pock—Cock a Doodle Doo”.  She gravitated to this book and we had hours of fun.  To her this was her play and learning time.  She interacted and all was great. But one can sit down and read a book for so long before both of you gets tired of quacking and mooing. Little did I know that "touching" and "sounds" were a gateway to her learning!

  • My dilemma was How do I interact with my child?
She gets bored with toys and throws them around and does not exactly play with them.  I simply did not know what she was capable of doing.  Or how to go about "playing" with her.  We'd do a couple of things here and there, but in reality I was at a loss.  I had some experience babysitting, but as far as something on a daily basis?  I was at a loss!
  • Another question I had was "What can I expect from my little one? "
Of course I play with her, but sometimes even it’s like I am reaching to the edges of my brain to figure out “HOW” to incorporate learning into all the playing that is age appropiate?  Playing with my daughter on a daily basis gets difficult for me.  As a first time mom I run out of fresh ideas easily.  I needed inspiration!

We are created!

As the master artist lifts his paintbrush to the canvas one can only guess what the finished piece will look like.  But until the final stroke is painted....can one stand back and gaze at the entirety of all those carefully placed brushstrokes and see what the master had envisioned.  When the master first began the strokes might have seemed irregular or even placed miscellaneously, but because he is the master and skilled each brush stroke is purposed.

Our Daughter almost about a year ago :)

Lesson I am learning as a First Time Mom:
There are times in my life that I just feel like giving up on life, but God reminds me that I was once newly formed. I was once a baby too!

I look at my toddler my little girl. I look at her and I believe and know without a doubt she has a purpose.  She was created and knitted together with God's own hand!   I need to also believe that my Redeemer formed me. That he thinks of me, and that he has a plan for my life.

Me & My Mom
I get in the doldrums sometimes, and this helps me if there are piles of dishes and laundry to do--and I feel like giving up or discontent. When I remember that being a mom to my daughter and wife to my husband--is important and where God wants me to be right now, I gain hope.  Right now financially we cannot afford a babysitter or a daycare.  Neither do I want to!  My mom was the sole provider.  She worked as a single mom, and though we had sufficient food and clothes---I missed out on developing that relationship and bond as a child.  I knew she was my mom, but I know that she missed out on playtime with me and seeing me grow up.  I love my mom, and I know she sacrificed a lot that I may eat and be alright.  Being at home with my own daughter is a privilege that cannot be thought lightly.

Working a job and getting a diploma can wait a while longer.  My daughter will not be little forever.  I have a purpose....I have an impact...I am important....my life is not spent in vain....I am a Mother, a Daughter, a Wife.  I am not a mistake--neither is my life---I am fearfully and wonderfully made by God.
***********

As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother's womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.
Ecclesiastes 11:5

This is what the LORD says--your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself,
Isaiah 44:24

13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made, marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
The Treasury of David (Psalms 139)

BeloBe Baby Review

I am so excited to introduce you to Jacyln from BeloBe Baby!  Her business, BeloBe Baby, is something that she started from her home in the Big Island, Hawaii!  I hope everyone will visit her shop and say Aloha to her!

Zoology Lagoon Security Blankie!
One of the things I first fell in love with was the Security Blankets that she made.  Jacyln sent us one to review!  The Oh-so Plush and Soft minky fabric makes such a a wonderful little tug a long blanket!  This one in particular is just a nice deep shade of turquoise! We are loving the color combination of this Blue Lagoon Security blanket with fun green polka dots! I know that this design has caught Sophie's eye because of the dots and the colorfulness of the blanket.  There are some great security blanket combinations here is some of them:

A great feature is that a soft stuffed animal is attached to it! There is a variety of animals you can choose from!  You might have a hard time choosing which animal for your blankie design.  You can pick out a blanket design and she can sew whatever animal you want to match up with it.

In our case we have an adorable elephant.  This is such a neat feature because a child can clutch the stuffed animal, and keep his blankie near! :)  All in all it is a great idea and fun to have! I know that right now she uses it mostly as a chew toy....but I think this is something that will stay with us for a while.

Getting ready for some good eating :)
....She's eating her Bib...

What I really liked about this Bib from BeloBe Baby is that it has really good absorbency and texture to it.  I found that I've been preferring this Bib to my other bibs that I have.  In truth I like it because of its soft towel like texture.  A really sweet feature of BeloBe Bibs is the "Catch Pocket" design.  It defintely has saved many pants from falling food.

Hmm...I have a matching Burpie cloth to go with this Bib....but I think it is in the laundry from our last usage! :)  the Burpie is also made from 100% Cotton. Again, very absorbent and big enough for Sophie to burp up on.  I did get a little bit of a shrinkage though after the first wash.  We just got a new dryer...so I suspect that it was just a bit too high--so just letting you guys know!  I imagine if one line dries the Burpie--it will not shrink.  The Bib did not shrink only the Burpie cloth.

What you'll find is many tropical fabric designs that are truly reminiscent of Hawai'i!
Sun Surf & Aloha Bib and Burpie Set

Lastly, she so generously sent us a Stroller Liner to review!

I absolutely am liking the styling stroller we have now. Say goodbye to drab black and grey! One thing that I did enjoy with her Stroller Liner was the ability to have two designs. I had two to choose from just by flipping the liner over.  Included were some shoulder strap wraps.  Sophie liked them....but found it just a bit too much for her in a stroller.  We did enjoy using them with my Beco Baby Carrier though.  I was so happy at the versatility of these nifty shoulder strap wraps.  I used them with my Baby Carrier and it worked great as a sucking/drooling liner.  It also protected her from rubbing against the straps and kept the straps from being everywhere.

Check out some of her Hawaiian styled Stroller Liners!

I love the difference it makes and how it adds just some extra ease to cleaning.  Instead of dealing with cleaning the actual stroller fabric, I can just toss this in the washing machine!  Plus it is made to accomodate most 5 point harness strollers.  I used it on my red sport stroller for the most part and it fits easily. I just got this stroller (pictured above) and it slipped in easy too.  Not hard at all to take off or put on.  This is one of the things that is important to me--can I transfer it easily? and with this Liner it is a pretty simple matter.

I found that her workmanship in her sewing and creating are very skillful.  I am very happy with the quality in her items.

You can check out more information of all that you've seen here by using this link to her shop!  BeloBe Baby
She has nursing covers and "naptime bedding" that is super cute!

Find BeloBe Baby on Facebook as well for some great information on sales new items, updates, possibly giveaways and much more! ;)

You will find that all her neat items are made with 100% Aloha.

Disclosure: I received products to facilitate this review by the sponsor, and I was not compensated in any other way to write this review.  My review is written by me and is my true opinion of the product. My views and my thoughts.
