In the past months I have always shied away from purchasing a box of Cheerios from Costco. They were always too big and tall to store in our cabinets, and too much for our little household to eat up in time!
Yet I remember caving in and purchasing Costco's Big Box of Cheerios. My daughter recently grew an affinity to Cheerios as a simple easy snack. I caved and bought ourselves a huge box at Costco. It was at a decent price, and thought it was a bargain! But because of the huge package, we could not eat down to the bottom. The cereal became stale and just not breakfast or snack worthy. I still have the remains of what's left in my cupboard! I hate waste, and buying cereal in bulk was just not worth it to me.
BUT Today, I am excited to talk about Cheerios NEW Packaging! Instead of one huge tall box, Cheerios are now packaged into two separate boxes. They are shorter in length, and a tiny bit wider. I am quite fond of the TWO BOX packaging as it really eliminates the waste in our household and reduces the possibility of our Cheerios getting stale. Watch the Video below to see the difference in the NEW packaging!
Here are some reasons as to why I think this is such a Brilliant Idea from General Mills and beneficial to our family!
- The two box Packaging makes the cereal last longer and fresh.
- The package is already divided into what we can use now, and what we can store up for later. It makes it easier for me to put away groceries!
- The box itself is shorter and can easily fit in our regular size cabinets. Whereas before, I found it frustrating trying to figure out a way to store ONE tall big box in my cabinet.
- Available at Costco, Sam's Club, and BJ's nationwide.
- We can buy Cheerios in bulk without wasting or having the cereal become stale!
- Overall, it makes sense and works for our family.
Here's a look at their efforts towards Sustainability--information taken from http://www.cheerios.com/club2boxes:
A Focus on Sustainability:
- Less air – the new 2 compact boxes combined fit more cereal than the previous package!
- Less material – packaging material has been reduced by over 200,000 lbs of paperboard, and saves 1,000 trees per year!
- Fewer trucks –more boxes fit on each truck, which takes 130 trucks off the road each year and reduces CO2 emissions!

ReplyDeleteEasier to fit in the cupboard, while still getting the advantage of a big box :D
ReplyDeleteMy son recently went to his Grandparents house and they had Cheerios for their cereal of choice. I gave my son a bowl for a snack and he said, "Oh, I forgot I love Cheerios." Kids are so cute.

My son (10 months) is the only one who eats cheerios on a regular basis, except he can't eat an entire box by himself! They usually get stale before he finishes a box so the 2 box cheerios will allow us to feed more cheerios to our son and less to the birds!
ReplyDeletewe eat a lot of cereal so the 2 pack would be great for our family!
ReplyDeleteWE are into being "green", so this product will benefit us there! Less packaging, more product.

will fit better in my small cabinet
ReplyDeleteThe 2 box Cheerios packaging would be perfect for me because I could keep one box at home then take the other box with me to work. Before I had to pour some in a container and take the container each day. This way I can keep it at work and I won't have to pack it every day :) Thanks for sharing this review and giveaway with all of us. I had no idea Cheerios was changing it's packaging. Now I will be looking for it.
ReplyDeleteLink to picket fence isn't working on rafflecopter or sidebar. I tried them both. Thought you might want to know. This is what I got.
ReplyDeleteDatabase_Exception [ 126 ]: Incorrect key file for table '/tmp/#sql_67ba_0.MYI'; try to repair it [ SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS b.* FROM `blogs` AS `b` LEFT JOIN `blog_categories` AS `bc` ON (`bc`.`blog_id` = `b`.`blog_id`) WHERE `blog_votes` > 0 AND `bc`.`category_id` = '1' GROUP BY `b`.`blog_id` ORDER BY `blog_votes` DESC, `blog_vote_time` ASC LIMIT 25 OFFSET 0 ]
I think that the picketfence blog is not working or something. I went in and redid the links (went to the picket fence blog site and recopied the links). When I clicked on it, it did the same error. I think it is recording the votes, so I will count it if you click it even if it does show that weird error.
ReplyDeleteWhen I clicked the link to vote the error showed. I back spaced the address to read just "www.picketfenceblogs.com" and it read Thanks for voting for Sophie and Momma Blog today.... So it is counting :)
Thanks Rhonda!
Nice packaging review.
